Financial Controller

Slingshot is seeking a highly motivated and talented Controller to lead our accounting operation. As the company’s Controller, you will be reporting to the VP of Finance.  You will be responsible for building the accounting team and implementing best-in-class processes that can scale with the company. The ideal candidate has a strong combination of strategic thinking and technical skill, with the ability to roll up their sleeves in a high-growth environment. 

• BA/ BS in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, with active CPA certification 
• 7-10+ years proven accounting experience, with a mix of public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and technology company experience
• 3+ years of managing and leading an accounting team
• Thorough knowledge of regulatory standards (GAAP) and experience with revenue recognition and ASC606 requirements
• Experience covering monthly, quarterly, and annual close, as well as both internal and external audits
• Experience with full cycle of AP, AR, and Payroll functions, business processes and all areas of accounting
• Experience with NetSuite ERP, Bill.com, Expensify and other related financial applications
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate to all employee levels confidently and effectively 

• Manage critical accounting processes and provide accounting thought-leadership
• Build and manage the company’s accounting team, including all general ledger, consolidation, technical accounting, tax, accounts payable, order to cash, and revenue recognition activities
• Be the primary accounting and tax expert, overseeing all accounting policies, standard operational procedures, and technical accounting for Slingshot
• Provide accounting expertise to ensure various transactions are properly recorded and in accordance with GAAP and company policies
• Develop, maintain, and document accounting policies, internal controls and systems in accordance with GAAP
• Actively lead annual audit and internal/external audit requests 
• Manage external business relationships including auditors, tax, and other key relationships 
• Support the continued roll-out of NetSuite ERP and other financial applications to drive scalability and reliability in our finance and accounting operation
• Recruit, lead, and develop talent within the organization by coaching, counseling, engaging, and evaluating performance
• Interface with executive team and company managers to ensure adherence to policies and standardization of processes

• Start-Up Experience in a high growth VC backed company
• Prior experience with SaaS or Software is strongly preferred
• Experience with government contract accounting and government market 
• Strong MS Excel skills
