Department Overview

The Avtec Controller is part of the product finance organization, reporting into the Senior Product Finance Manager of Astro Systems. Motorola acquired Avtec in 2019 and Avtec continues to operate as a subsidiary of Motorola Solutions.
Job Description

This role will be based in our Chicago Office and will be on a hybrid schedule. Candidates should expect to be in office on average 1 to 2 days per week.

The Avtec Controller is responsible for all financial activities of the Avtec entity, a subsidiary of Motorola Solutions, Inc. The position holds a wide range of financial responsibilities and works closely with various departments including Sales, Product, and Operations. 

Responsibilities Include:

• Manage monthly close activities, including journal entry and account reconciliations, to ensure the timeliness and accuracy of the financial statements. 

• Forecast monthly Revenue and Gross Margin, report results and explain variances 

• Partner closely with sales, operations, & supply chain teams in understanding existing backlog mix and forward looking pipeline metrics for the business.

• Partner with Sales Leadership to drive quota setting and retirement activities

• Plan and track R&D and Capital investment with business partners, drive teams to spend within budget

• Support quarterly business operations reviews with Leadership

• Drive deep dive LRP (Long Range Plan) update annually, working as the key consolidation point of P&L forecast & strategic story between sales, product, supply chain organizations

• Ensure Avtec ERP system is maintained, providing support to cross-functional partners to ensure Financials are captured and reported to MSI timely and accurately

• Play a proactive role in implementing new procedures to improve efficiency, automation, and integration.

Preferred Skills

• Strong Interpersonal skills; Ability to manage/build relationships

• Proficient in Microsoft Office & Google workplace

• Strong background in data analytics and Tableau knowledge
