Job Description:

At Regions, the Intern works on department assignments while learning more about the financial services industry. As an intern, you will be provided with job skills and training, personal development, and networking opportunities, while experiences Regions values. Regions offers college internship opportunities within various departments.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Receives exposure to all basic functions of assigned group within the financial industry
  • Exposed to a wide range of tasks including research, administrative and correspondence work and attend meetings
  • Provides assistance in projects
  • Gains valuable insight within a variety of functions while strengthening core skills and knowledge needed to launch a successful career
  • Responsibilities will vary by internship

This position requires the tracking of time and is eligible for overtime hours worked in excess of 40 per week under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

Requirements
  • A college student who has interest in developing technical skills and gaining work experience
  • Ability to work 40 hours a week for 10 weeks

Regions Finance and Accounting teams are instrumental in providing information, analysis, and recommendations that improve results and drive decisions across the bank. These teams are responsible for strategically managing capital and liquidity, driving growth and efficiency, proactively managing risks, and maintaining financial reporting.

Finance and Accounting Structure:

The Finance and Accounting structure aligns with the bank's structure. Associates work in a corporate function, such as Treasury and Accounting, or provide support to one of our three business units: Consumer Bank, Corporate Banking Group or Wealth Management.

Finance provides financial and business analysis and planning tools that support Management in making informed business decisions that maximize value for Regions Bank shareholders. This group includes the business unit finance teams that support the Consumer Bank, Corporate Bank and Wealth Management.

Corporate Treasury ensures the maintenance of corporate liquidity and financial stability by developing and managing strategies, operations, policies and budgets related to asset/liability management. This department develops financial policies for capital structure, working capital, treasury operations and foreign exchange interest rate risk management.

The Corporate Development and Strategy team is responsible for identifying opportunities for Regions to expand its range of capabilities and high-value financial services for customers through mergers and acquisitions. This team also manages the bank's equity investment program to strategically invest in targeted financial technology companies.

The Controller's Group devises and directs all financial accounting activities and retains primary responsibility for ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) reporting requirements and certain financial banking regulatory reporting requirements.

Investor Relations communicates with the external investment community, which includes buy- and sell-side analysts and investors, in various forums: onsite visits, quarterly earnings presentations and the annual report.

Potential Internships include:

Corporate Treasury
  • Asset and Liability Management, Liquidity Management, Capital Planning, Investment Portfolio - In these roles, interns will sharpen their data analytics skills and knowledge of credit, cash, and rates markets. They will contribute to the formation of risk-management-style reporting and analysis. Longer-term projects will also be used to help with strategic initiatives within the group. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to contribute and learn the practical components of financial risk management.


Controller's Group
  • External Reporting - In this role, the intern will be involved in various aspects of external reporting, encompassing SEC Reporting, Regulatory Reporting/Quality Assurance and Regulation W, to get a well-rounded experience.
  • Accounting Policy/Business Unit Controller - In this role, interns will participate in analyzing, consolidating and interpreting financial data, and preparing detailed reports and presentations for review by management. They will also search, prepare and apply corporate accounting policies in response to inquiries from segment finance teams, and monitor updates to accounting standards while determining how these changes will impact the corporation.


Finance
  • In this role, interns will work closely with other members of the Consumer Bank Finance, Corporate Bank Finance or Wealth Management Finance group to provide support to our internal business partners. This support may include the following: forecasting revenue and expenses, analyzing financial results, preparing journal entries and creating pertinent reporting, as well as variance research and analysis and ad hoc business/product analysis.


Corporate Development and Strategy
  • Corporate Development - In this role, the intern will work closely with the members of the Corporate Development team to provide insights and analysis related to potential M&A opportunities. Work will also consist of developing presentations for team and various stakeholders throughout the bank.
  • Strategy - Interns will take an active role in the team through a capstone project that will support the group's overall goals. They will also assist with the design, compilation, documentation and review of the Strategic Plan at the Corporate and business level.
