Financial Engineer, Risk Tech
Job Description
The Role
We are seeking a highly qualified and talented technologist to join our RAD Risk Technology team. Technology within Risk is split into three areas: Infrastructure, Applications and Rapid-Application-Development (RAD). The RAD team within Risk is responsible for supporting the Macro, Quant, Tactical and Fundamental trading and Risk business.
What you’ll do
The Financial Engineer will work closely with risk managers, analysts and portfolio managers supporting functions such as Front Office Analytics and Risk Management. You will be responsible for helping deliver solutions that automate and optimize the risk management process in domains such as stress testing, Equity and Fixed Income risk models, instrument and portfolio analytics, large scale data management, risk decomposition, VaR, Stress, and Liquidity + other front office domains. You will also participate in expanding platform capabilities based on rapidly changing business requirements as well as providing Level 3 support. The ideal candidate has a mindset of creatively applying the best modern technologies to help solve business problems.
What you’ll bring
What you need:
- Expertise with Python and at least one other OO language (C#, C++, Java)
- Experience with cross-asset/derivatives model integration
- Experience with production development and support
- Experience building, enhancing, and maintaining historical and real-time risk systems
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Strong ownership experience and a track record of delivering results
We’d love if you had:
- Experience working with quantitative risk members, traders, and portfolio managers, ideally within the buy side
- Experience with R
- Experience with VBA or PyXL development
- Experience with relational and time-series databases
- Experience with multi-factor risk models and their applications or other risk tools and analytics
- Experience with cloud-based environments (AWS/Google Cloud/Azure) and distributed/parallel programming.

Schonfeld Strategic Advisors is a multi-manager platform that invests its capital with Internal and Partner portfolio managers, primarily on an exclusive or semi-exclusive basis, across four trading strategies; quantitative, fundamental equity, tactical trading and discretionary macro & fixed income. Our portfolio exposure has expanded across the Americas, Europe and Asia as well as multiple asset classes and products.
The base pay for this role is expected to be between $150,000 and $250,000. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. This role may also be eligible for other forms of compensation such as a performance bonus and a competitive benefits package. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications, and experience.
