Financial Reporting and Policy Accountant

About the Position

We are looking for an accountant to join our New York team supporting both our local and global accounting operations.

You will work alongside existing team members to maintain the company’s internal books and records as well as a system of controls around financial reporting. This includes the review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and related financial information.

This role will provide a great introduction and exposure to the larger operations of the firm. The right person must be discreet, trustworthy, and comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment.
Getting the details right in accounting is an extremely important part of our business, and we take pride in our ability to stay on schedule without sacrificing accuracy. Each member of our team is highly organized, proactive, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.

The legal and regulatory environment in which we operate is constantly shifting. Your previous industry expertise will be valuable to the team as we collaborate with outside auditors and advisors on accounting policy decisions and US GAAP interpretations.

About You

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field
• 12-15 years of experience in a public accounting firm within the audit practice or in the financial services industry
• In-depth knowledge of US GAAP and a comprehensive understanding of financial statements and legal entity reporting
• Able to research and interpret relevant/complex accounting literature, and significant experience in the preparation of technical accounting papers
• Supportive and reliable team player with a collaborative mindset
• Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail in the role of both preparer and reviewer
• Able to work independently and proactively in a deadline-driven environment
• Motivated to improve processes where possible
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel
• Relevant accounting qualifications are preferred
• Broker-dealer experience, familiarity with relevant regulatory regimes, familiarity with UK GAAP and/or IFRS, and SEC experience is preferred
• Experience accounting and reporting using Workday (Financial Data Model) is preferred
• Fluency in English required
