POSITION TITLE
Financial Reporting Manager
LOCATION
Richmond, VA
This position is available to Virginia residents as Richmond, Virginia in-office applicants with a hybrid work schedule.

YOUR ROLE
You will support the Corporate financial reporting team in all aspects of financial reporting, including both U.S. GAAP and International Accounting Standards. You will support the Company's transition from a public company to a private company. In addition, you will work across the organization to drive efficiencies in reporting while maintaining a focus on timely execution that supports the Controllership team.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Support the Director of Financial Reporting during public to private company transition initiatives; including but not limited to, managing the quarterly financial supplement during the transition period, assisting in internal reporting to drive clear and concise reporting and compile various internal reporting schedules in accordance with International Accounting Standards with the utmost attention to detail
- Support the Company's strategic initiatives, such as, sale initiatives and purchase accounting matters
- Handle preparation of certain aspects of U.S. GAAP financial reporting; including but not limited to:
- U.S. GAAP disclosures, including but not limited to, investments, derivatives and fair value disclosures
- Writing MD&A, including in-depth analysis of supporting documentation
Quarterly and annual review of XBRL submissions related to assigned footnotes (while Company is an SEC Registrant)
- Assist in the coordination of audit deliverables
- Research accounting guidance, as needed, and provide well thought out recommendations and conclusions
- Cross-train and develop future employees to enhance their professional development and enrich the work environment
- Review presentations as needed to ensure consistency with U.S. GAAP and International Accounting Standards
- Support businesses and functional areas on questions and issues to drive enhanced collaboration
- Work on special projects as necessary
MUST HAVE / WHAT YOU BRING
- BS or BA in accounting
- 3 to 6 years of relevant experience
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proficient computer skills, including desktop and general ledger software
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively in a culturally diverse work group
- Ability to work in cross functional teams
- Strong critical thinking skills
- Ability to research technical accounting literature and form decisive conclusions
NICE TO HAVE
- Licensed CPA
- Insurance or financial services experience
- 2 years or more of public accounting experience or previous financial reporting experience in a large multinational insurance company (or a combination thereof)
- International experience, particularly related to financial reporting
- Experience with financial reporting software, such as Cognos Disclosure Management (CDM) or Workiva
- Prior experience with XBRL
