Financial Systems Business Analyst
Job Description
DESCRIPTION:
Serving as a Business Analyst, this position will join the Finance, Budget, and Human Resources (FBH) agile team focused on continuously improving the financial systems and business processes of the association. The main tasks will include performing detailed process and requirements analysis, analyzing system/application issues, documenting processes, and coordinating user acceptance testing. This position requires a strong team-oriented individual with a natural analytical way of thinking and the ability to explain complex cross-organizational business processes and their impact on support systems.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, information management, business administration, business/systems analysis, or accounting required.
- A minimum of 8 years' experience in business and process analysis or a related field.
- Experience with Financial/ERP systems and system integrations, especially general accounting, sales (order to cash processing), expense management (procure to pay), budget/planning, and HR/Payroll are essential.
- Exceptional analytical and conceptual thinking skills.
- Ability to complex analyze business processes, identify automation opportunities, define RPA value proposition, reengineer processes to improve automation position, and recommend RPA approach/strategy.
- Able to demonstrate significant knowledge of GAAP and other basic accounting concepts.
- Experience participating in top-performing agile teams.
COMPUTER SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Experience with documenting business processes, data flows, requirements, test scenarios, and integrations is a must.
- Understanding of routine accounting processes and procedures.
- Knowledge of sales order processing and fulfillment, including all systems integrations such as EDI Processing, eCommerce, inventory management, and invoicing.
- Familiarity with agile methodologies.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with IT compliance controls.
- Familiarity with RPA strategies and technologies desired.
- Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, One Note, Visio, and Teams required.
- Experience with ERP systems and the business processes supported by them is required. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central software is a plus.
- Experience with Jira / Confluence or similar systems is desired.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work as a member of the FBH team using the agile framework to provide analysis support for financial applications and integrations. Document requirements to add new features and functionality in a continuous release schedule according to the priorities set forth by the business.
- Collaborate closely with subject matter experts and developers to validate business needs, document requirements, evaluate business processes, uncover areas for improvement, and recommend solutions directions.
- Create and execute test cases for UAT and regression testing, interface with the application development teams to validate test results for new features/applications, verifying that they meet the requirements of the business before facilitating UAT and deployment.
- Assist the business units in the creation of business and scope statements to reflect the impact on their processes that will lead to improved operational efficiencies.
- Combine business process knowledge with a technical understanding of related systems and software to help identify and implement scalable solutions.
- Document processes, workflow diagrams, and writing specifications/scenarios for testing.
- Work with the SMEs and stakeholders to translate identified improvements into user stories for development and implementation.
- Assist the SMEs and stakeholders in developing acceptance criteria and conducting user acceptance testing.
- Effectively documenting and communicating requirements, improvements, business rules, and business benefits.
- Other duties as assigned.
