JOB SUMMARY
The Financial Systems Manager is a key player within the Corporate Finance team and is responsible for managing the implementation and post project ongoing functional requirements of NOV's financial planning & consolidation system. This position will be a hands-on subject matter expert in Oracle EPBCS/FCCS with knowledge of other key Oracle EPM Cloud modules. The position requires that the candidate have both a strong financial background and technical knowledge and experience in system implementations, training, change management and documentation.
Key activities include oversight and management of all components of NOV's Oracle financial planning and consolidation module. The position will work closely with the senior finance leadership teams, Enterprise Solutions teams, and global business leaders providing financial, strategic, and ad-hoc support as needed. The position will report to the Chief Accounting Officer.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
From an implementation project perspective:
- Partner with system implementor in managing the implementation project
- Manage internal/external resources to achieve project objectives
- Assist team in gathering business requirements
- Ensure alignment across project phases as required
- Lead validations for all types of testing and support activities related to implementation
- Support the Chief Accounting Officer in driving best practices and standardization across the organization
Ongoing and post project:
- Management of the Oracle EPBCS / FCCS system from ensuring data is accurate and system running properly to being the EPM Product Owner
- Management of the system; including controls, prioritization of enhancements, involvement of designs for improvements, and functional documentation
- Provide technical/functional expertise and serve as a subject matter expert for the suite of EPM applications.
- Lead upgrades to functionality / system integrations through testing and troubleshooting prior to application of system changes
- Train and develop financial staff to better utilize the system and system related reports
- In conjunction with Enterprise Solutions, assess, prepare, and maintain documentation for system and project requirements, operational needs, integration with other systems, interfaces, and workflow enhancements.
- Provide functional design specifications that will drive configuration and enhancements, system maintenance and business process testing, which includes managing custom fields, forms, records, workflows, searching and reporting, and user roles to support business requirements
- Provide oversight, technical support, and change management of EPM platform, including data governance and assessments to improve financial system processes
- Assisting IT in driving prioritization, tradeoffs, and the overall EPM roadmap
- Collaborate with technical development and Business Intelligence teams to ensure data integrity, streamline processes, and support future development activities
- Support the preparation of the company's annual consolidated financial audit
- Support / oversee the monthly consolidation process
- Demonstrated ability to articulate and manage overall financial systems strategies
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required. CPA or MBA preferred.
- Experience with Hyperion Planning / PBCS, Hyperion Financial Management (HFM), Financial Consolidation and Close Cloud (FCCS), and/or Financial Data Quality Management preferably in an administrative role
- Experience in analyzing system requirements, writing functional specifications, conducting data tests, troubleshooting issues, and interfacing with business users
- Experience with financial reporting and analysis leveraging SmartView / Essbase / Oracle EPM Report Studio
- Understanding of the financial planning and close cycles and related best practices
- Extensive knowledge of Excel, Essbase Spreadsheet Add-in and SmartView
- Experience creating consolidated financial statements for public or private companies
- Experience with foreign currency translation and the effect of currency translation on the financial statements
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Aptitude to analyze and interpret complex financial and statistical data but can also see the "big picture"
- Leadership presence combined with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent project management and organization skills
- Ability to collaborate and develop strong cross-functional relationships across the organization
- Strong understanding of finance & accounting concepts, with general understanding of GAAP
- Experience managing a small team
- Motivation to lead positive change throughout the organization
- Five to ten years of progressive work experience in financial system administration, consulting, or similar role.
- Participation in implementation projects
