Finite Element Analysis Engineer

We’re looking for a Finite Element Analysis Engineer to join Snap Inc! 

What you’ll do:

• Perform static and dynamic structural simulations using Ansys or Abaqus on consumer grade hardware

• Lead and coordinate with partner teams (Product Design, Reliability, Quality, etc.) to validate the predictions of the simulated results.

• Work with product design engineers on evaluation, verification/validation and design optimization

• Recommend design changes/directions to meet product performance requirements

• Participate in team brainstorming and new technology development

• Develop new simulation tools and capabilities as needed.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Solid modeling practices including static and dynamic structural simulations, fatigue analysis, model validation techniques, and reliability

• Familiar with CAD software (NX, ProE, Solidworks)

• Familiarity with Abaqus user subroutine development

• Expert level understanding of static and dynamic structural simulations using Ansys or Abaqus on consumer grade hardware in handheld/portable/wearable consumer electronics products

• Thorough knowledge of Solid Mechanics and Strength of Materials

• Failure modeling of different classes of materials

• Testing familiarity using Digital Image Correlation, Universal Testing Machines, and Dynamic Mechanical Analysis

• Outstanding written and verbal communication skills

• Great interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate across groups

• Excellent process development and documentation skills 

• Self motivated to identify and close issues

Minimum Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s in a related field such as mechanical engineering and applied mechanics or equivalent years of experience

• 7+ years experience as an analyst performing mechanical and structural simulations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master’s/PhD degree in relevant field

• Experience in building and calibrating non-linear material models

• Passion for creating innovative, high quality products

• A passion for Snapchat and creativity!
