Job Description

Fintech Software/Hedge Fund organization based in Charlotte and Greenwich, CT is looking for a Fintech Data Scientist who has demonstrated both hands-on technical skills analyzing hedge fund data and experience communicating advanced financial concepts and data analysis to a variety of stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity to join our Data Science team and get involved in the early stages of launching a new hedge fund based on the data generated by Alpha Theory software clients. As a Fintech Data Scientist, you will work directly with hedge fund managers, investment professionals, and the Heads of Alpha Theory's Customer Experience and Data Science teams to facilitate data requests, perform custom research, build automated reporting, and make new tools for clients. This position will be located in Charlotte, NC with possible need to travel to our hedge fund office in Greenwich, CT. In this role, you will
  • Assist in the design and implementation of custom data projects for hedge fund clients.
  • Mine data to support Alpha Theory's Client Experience and Sales teams by showing the value of the software platform.
  • Build compelling data visualizations to turn raw data into actionable information.
  • Implement processes that lead to greater data quality.
  • Partner with our development teams to help build dynamic and compelling data products.
  • Document all processes and research in Alpha Theory's knowledge repository.


Requirements

Required Skills:
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to manage client expectations and convey complex topics to a wide variety of stakeholders
  • 2+ years of SQL experience writing and managing stored procedures, views, and functions
  • 1+ years of Python experience including experience with data manipulation libraries such as numpy and pandas
  • 1+ years of advanced Microsoft Excel experience
  • Strong background in statistics and math
  • Keen eye for data anomalies and finding the source of data quality issues
