Purpose:

We are committed to creating new value through unique water experiences and are seeking to hire the best individual for the R&D Firmware Engineer. This role will work with other members of the technical innovation team to develop innovative product and service offers. Starting with deep consumer and installer understanding, this role must drive the exploration, research and development of new technologies and capabilities to support realization of the business vision and strategy. This role has significant influence on the business' future success. Specifically, this person will:

  • Support and develop vital processes to facilitate technical exploration, scouting, and testing.
  • Work with and help seek out partners for internal and external business and strategy leads to ensure the technical capabilities are in alignment to deliver business goals.
  • Maintain curiosity, objectivity, and discipline during the process of development and take responsibility for the quality of the outcome.

Responsibilities:

  • Participate in and contribute to the Innovation Pipeline including ideation, exploration, and definition. Maintain relationships with software and firmware engineers in other development and sustaining areas of the business to ensure consistency and facilitate information transfer.
  • Help create new customer solutions through the development of software and firmware. Responsibilities include writing new code for groundbreaking products and services, adapting existing code to new applications, and working with outside vendors to facilitate efforts with both of the those. Develop standards for new categories of firmware and remain up to date on modifications to existing internal and external standards. Assist in the selection of processor platforms for new products and lead developments into new categories and vendors.
  • Defines protocol, investigates current state-of-the-art, and establishes scope of testing required to prove and validate software and firmware projects. In line with the consumer, business, and performance requirements, use insights and feedback from the project team to feed into the development of software and firmware to maximize new technical capabilities. Work closely with mechanical and electrical engineers to assist with prototypes, developing specifications, and facilitating technology transfers.
  • Participate and grow external innovation partnerships to augment learning and expedite market tests, including help defining when to build, borrow, or buy new capabilities.

Education and Experience:

  • 4-year bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related STEM field
  • Experience with challenging programming projects and familiarity with writing firmware for embedded devices using C++.
  • Exposure to a variety of programming languages, including Python, JavaScript, and other object-oriented languages. Experience with connected devices and wireless protocols is desirable.
  • Willingness to stretch into hardware and electromechanical diagnostics and testing during development.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner with a broad multi-functional team with diverse skills.
  • Able to support multiple complex projects at one time and prioritize work and resources according to potential impact.

Hiring Range: $72,300.00 - $113,630.00
