Fluidra is seeking a Firmware Test Engineer I that will join the Engineering team at our West Coast office in Carlsbad, CA.

WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE

The Firmware Test Engineer I ’s core responsibility is the verification and validation of firmware and software developed for Fluidra products. This role encompasses developing validation and characterization strategy and methods, preparing and executing test plans, and developing required tools to perform data analysis in support of product and system development and complete design validation and characterization of key product features. Additionally, you will:

  • Develops validation test plans for firmware, software, and app developed for Fluidra products.
  • Analyzes product requirements and identifies validation test criteria. Develops test plans and test cases to satisfy validation criteria based on product specifications.
  • Executes firmware level test cases and prepares validation test reports. Prepares and presents validation test reports to stakeholders.
  • Conducts explorative testing which includes black/white box testing.
  • Designs and develops mechanical test fixtures, electrical subsystems, and software scripts and components to assist in validation testing. Integrates test fixtures with products to successfully complete the validation testing.
  • Analyzes test reports to understand failures. Assists in root-cause analysis for failures and present findings.
  • Prepares all required product documentation.
  • Takes an active role in the redesign of existing products to meet revised requirements.
  • Combines broad knowledge of design skills, engineering principles, manufacturing techniques, and analytical skills to address field problems and proposes corrective actions.
  • Writes reports, conducts evaluations, and analyzes data.
  • Supports and contributes to a variety of test phase efforts.
  • Responsible for following quality system procedures. Assists in procedure development when required. Ensures product quality and takes appropriate action when non-conformances are identified. Keeps accurate records as required.
  • Provides support to production, quality, and new product design
  • As a key member of the Electronics Engineering Team, the Firmware Test Engineer I may be required to travel periodically. The travel requirement will be determined by the activities of the projects.
Ā WHAT WE SEEK
  • Background in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science or related field
  • 1 year of directly related experience in systems testing and validation
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) concepts. Experience in setting up and maintaining CI/CD server such as Jenkins.
  • Strong knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
  • Strong understanding of testing principles, techniques and tools
  • Ability to communicate effectively with technicians, colleagues, management, and vendors
  • Ability to work effectively independently or in a team environment
  • Strong mechanical/electrical aptitude
  • Familiarity with JIRA/Agile is a big plus
  • Experience in automated testing
  • Experience with Squish or QT is a big plus
  • Experience in Python, C/C++ or similar programming languages with an ability to build tools and write scripts for testing is a big plus
  • Previous testing and validation experience with Serial, USB, Ethernet, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Zigbee, embedded software, or IoT products and technologies is a big plus
  • Experience with interface debugging tool (e.g. Wireshark, protocol analyzer)

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Science or another related field
