The Role

Job Summary & Responsibilities:

Ā 

TheĀ Fleet Manager (full-time, salaried, regular) is a key role for the MotorTrend Studios production team, responsible for our company's fleet of vehicles. The Fleet Manager will be responsible for ensuring that all vehicles are stored, maintained, serviced, and transported safely, efficiently, and according to company policy and procedures. Additionally, the Fleet Manager will be responsible for managing the fleet budget, developing policies and procedures, and supervising transportation for studio vehicles. This position requires focus, unwavering attention to detail, ability to exercise sound judgment, proactivity, self-motivation, quick to pivot as necessary, thoroughness, and ability to manage a wide variety of multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.Ā 


Essential duties and responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Manage all aspects of day-to-day operations and logistics for the studio fleet, including maintenance and repair of all company vehicles, including regular service schedules, repairs, and inspections.
  • Work closely with the teams to ensure the proper documentation and paperwork are secured for vehicle purchases and work with the internal and external agencies to register and title company owned vehicles.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to fleet operations, including safety standards, fuel consumption, vehicle utilization, and sales of vehicles.
  • Manage the fleet budget and documentation following the Studio guidelines for cost control, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, suppliers, and service providers to ensure the best pricing and service quality.
  • Supervise all transportation for fleet vehicles after wrap.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws related to fleet operations.
  • Oversee the fleet storage facility by developing and implementing operational policies and procedures to ensure efficient storage, organization, and retrieval of fleet vehicles.Ā 
  • Respond to problems and issues as they develop during the filming process and anticipate and solve any vehicle issues before they become problematic.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • This position may include supervising one or more employees where applicable. Supervisory responsibilities include but are not limited to:
    • Provide consistent training, support, and mentorship to team.
    • Review and approve individual timecards (as needed) and time-off requests to ensure optimal staffing levels
    • Effective, fair, and consistent performance management
    • Fairly and consistently ensure compliance with company policies and procedures
    • Effective, fair, and consistent management of one or multiple projects at any one time
    • Knowledge of and ability to, execute full compliance with company policies and procedures

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in business administration, logistics, or a related field.
  • Preferred 5+ years previous experience in fleet management or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of automotive mechanics, maintenance, transportation, and repairs.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent time management skills/scheduling.
  • Excels when working under high pressure situations.
  • Baseline understanding, interest, or experience in the automotive industry a plus.
  • Always maintains a positive and professional attitude.
  • Valid Driver’s license and clean driving record.

Physical Requirements:

  • The ability to sit for prolonged period of time and view computer screen
  • Requires standing on and assisting with loading and unloading vehicles as needed.

Equipment/Software Used:

  • Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Google Calendar and suite

Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in an office environment that is well lit and ventilated.
  • Work is also performed on a variety of locations around the US.


In compliance with local law, we are disclosing the compensation, or a range thereof, for roles that will be performed in California. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of MotorTrend's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, MotorTrend provides a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, a retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
