Stantec is seeking a Fluvial Geomorphologist for a variety of aquatic, water resources, and restoration projects in Northern California. You will join a premier natural resources and engineering consulting firm renowned for its strategic planning and creative solutions. We specialize in sustainable natural systems engineering, geomorphology, biology, water, and natural resource management, permitting, and compliance.
Your Responsibilities
- Write floodplain and watershed study reports and technical memoranda
- Participate in, lead, and implement geomorphic field studies, depending on experience
- Perform data analysis and write or contribute to reports on findings
- Participate in designing stream restoration/enhancement projects, fish passage, floodplain management, and other related projects
- Conduct field surveys
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Scientific background with experience applying and for fluvial process understanding
- Knowledge of environmental planning and regulations, fluvial geomorphology, and fish biology in Northern California
- Technical background, including fieldwork, analysis, and report writing experience, in geomorphic assessments; stream and river hydrologic, hydraulic, and sediment transport analyses; watershed studies; flood hazard mapping; channel stability analyses, and support of stream and river restoration designs
- Experience supporting water resources engineers and biologists in designing stream restoration/enhancement projects, fish passage, flood plain management, and other related projects
- Experience with field survey methods, such as topographic surveying, facies mapping, sediment surveys, v* surveys, and flow measurements
- Capable of completing assigned tasks and with a multi-discipline team of engineers, planners, scientists, and GIS specialists to develop permits, design documents, and specifications
- Willing and able to travel out of town, including being away doing field work up to a week at a time
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's in Environmental Sciences, Geology
- 4 - 5 years demonstrated progressive experience in geology, geomorphology, watershed science, water resources, environmental engineering
