The pandemic has highlighted how important telecoms networks are to society. Nokia's Network Infrastructure group is at the heart of a revolution to bring more and faster network capacity to people worldwide through our ambition, innovation, and technical expertise.

The Fixed Networks (FN) business division provides an array of "gigabit to the home" solutions to deliver data, voice and video access to our customers. With the investment the U.S. Government is making in Broadband Access, more Customer Engineers (CE's) are needed to support Enterprise customer lab trials, field trials and deployment of their broadband access networks. CE's work with sales teams, business development, product management, and R&D to deliver new production introduction trials and Professional Services.

What you will learn and contribute to

The CE pre-stages designs in our Nokia lab to test new architectures, new products, and the latest firmware releases. Then the CE works with the Enterprise customer on lab trials, field trials and deployment.

As part of the team, you will:

  • Design, architect, configure, integrate, and upgrade Broadband Access Networks, using Network Management systems, including the latest SDAN technologies.
  • Develop configurations, including IP addressing, VLANs, Capacity and QoS plans
  • Design and implement templates to provision services on network elements, using Nokia 5529 APC and Altiplano intents.
  • Provide technical knowledge transfer and network design recommendations to Nokia customers on our products and solutions and our new releases
  • Work with product management to document and refine technical details of the product - provide feedback on product roadmaps and assist in prioritizing feature enhancements.

Your skills and experience

You have:

  • A degree in engineering or technical field and at least four years work experience
  • Experience with Access Technologies (XGS-PON, SDAN)
  • Knowledge of Layer 2/Layer 3 IP protocols

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Knowledge of NETCONF / YANG
  • Network engineering and network design experience
  • Scripting with Python
  • Knowledge of MPLS
  • Solid communication and technical presentation skills with the ability to influence engineers, customers and executives to become advocates of Nokia products and solutions
