Qualifications

Specialized Experience Requirement:
GS-08. Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07. Examples include:
- Performed limited timber sale preparation duties and collected timber presale information data;
- Monitored and inspected timber sales with conventional contract requirements and conditions;
- Interpreted and explained timber sale contract provisions to the timber operator; and
- Inspected ongoing timber sales for compliance with contract clauses.
- Performed timber sale preparation duties and collected timber presale information data;
- Administered timber sale contracts with conventional contract requirements and conditions;
- Monitored and inspected timber sale operations having conventional contract requirements and conditions; and
- Prepared written reports of all sale inspections and made follow-ups on deficiencies.
- Administered timber sale contracts; Identified resource concerns on the ground and coordinated applicable corrective measures;
- Performed timber sale preparation duties and collected timber presale information data as well as completing appraisals of timber sales and selecting of contract provisions based on NEPA documents; and
- Conducted cruises of timber stands to determine volume of merchantable timber, species composition, accessibility, and environmental constraints.
Education
There is no substitution of education for specialized experience.

The USDA Forest Service has legislative authority to recruit and fill Permanent (Career/Career-Conditional), Temporary, and Term Appointments under the USDA Demonstration Project. Under this authority, any U.S. citizen may apply.
