Summary
Pixelligent Technologies is a leading advanced materials manufacturer of specialty chemicals for a variety of industries, such as display, AR/VR, and optical device and sensor applications. We are seeking a Formulations Chemist to join our team and develop innovative new products and formulations to meet the needs of our customers.
The Formulations Chemist will be a member of the Applications Engineering team working under the supervision of the Director of Applications Engineering. This person will be responsible for the development, optimization, and scale-up of new and existing products, as well as providing technical support to our sales and marketing teams. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to design and execute experiments, analyze data, and communicate results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop new products and formulations to meet customer requirements, utilizing knowledge of chemical structure-property relationships and formulation science principles
- Conduct laboratory experiments, including designing and executing experiments, analyzing data, and documenting results
- Optimize existing formulations to improve product performance, stability, and cost-effectiveness
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including sales, marketing, and manufacturing, to provide technical support and ensure successful product development and launch
- Conduct literature searches and stay up-to-date on industry trends and emerging technologies
- Write technical reports, prepare presentations, and communicate results to both internal and external stakeholders
- Follow good laboratory practices, maintain accurate records, and ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements
Required skills & experience:
- PhD or MS in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Material Science or related field with 5+ years of relevant industry experience
- Strong background in formulation science, including knowledge of surfactants, emulsions, polymers, and coatings with experience with UV-curable polymeric materials, such as acrylics, epoxies and siloxanes
- Hands-on experience with standard polymer physical property characterization tools such as TMA, DMA, tensile testing, rheology, etc. and experience with standard chemical property analytical methods such as IR spectroscopy, UV-vis, etc.
- Additional preferred experience in optics characterization tools such as ellipsometry
- Experience with statistical analysis and design of experiments
- Excellent problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and strong written and verbal communication skills
