Job Description

We are in search of a diligent and analytical Manager for our Dispute and Fraud Operations teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong emphasis on problem-solving in the realms of disputes and fraud prevention. You should possess excellent people management skills, coupled with an analytical perspective. A dedication to addressing and resolving complex challenges in the field of disputes and fraud is crucial. The successful individual will demonstrate proactive initiative, keen attention to detail, and showcase superior operational and team leadership skills in high-stakes situations.
What you'll do at Avant:
  • Oversee teams tasked with safeguarding Avant's and our customers' financial interests. This includes investigating hight risk accounts, fraud rings, member claims, analyzing, and processing dispute inquiries related to credit accounts, all while adhering to Regulatory Requirements and Association rules.
  • Define Avant's overall strategy and business requirements for intake and timely resolution of consumer fraud claims.
  • Proactively identify and analyze emerging fraud trends, ensuring the team is always one step ahead in fraud prevention and detection.
  • Spearhead initiatives to reduce chargeback losses, customer complaints, and operational expenses. This will involve devising data-backed solutions, championing automation, and fostering collaboration with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Proactively identify and analyze emerging fraud trends, ensuring the team is always one step ahead in fraud prevention and detection.
  • Formulate and implement scorecards to monitor the fraud operations team's compliance and productivity objectives.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with internal departments such as Compliance, Financial Product, Engineering, and Data.
  • Craft comprehensive reports on team activities and provide updates to the senior leadership team.
  • Play an active role in crafting and refining fraud policies and procedures.
  • Harness reporting tools to monitor risks and activities, discern emerging fraud and dispute trends, and convey areas of emphasis to the business, operations, and analytics sectors.
  • Define and set in motion departmental processes, objectives, and strategies, encompassing aspects like workforce planning, incentive structures, and team development.

Why you are a fit for Avant:
  • 6+ years' experience managing a fraud operations or dispute operations teams; 3+ of those years in a management role that included sourcing and hiring talent, scaling operations, and providing ongoing coaching and feedback to team members
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to succinctly and accurately communicate issues and recommendations to internal stakeholders
  • Technical skills must include SQL, Excel, and Tableau/Looker. Python experience is highly preferred but not required.
