Freelance Entertainment Photo Editor

The Opportunity:

We’re looking for freelance Photo Editors to support Shutterstock Editorial’s content operations team in NY, LA or Remote US. This position calls for a creative, self-motivated, and detail-oriented professional with a passion for photography and entertainment. Photo editors play an integral role in the content that is created at live events.

You are someone who thrives in the fast-paced, 24/7 world of entertainment, news, and sports and is comfortable with non-traditional work hours. You are a self-starting, multitasking team player who can also assume individual responsibility for issues as they arise. The ideal candidate thinks strategically and applies expert judgment to identify the most impactful images to drive value for our global market and clients.

Responsibilities:

• Work alongside and provide editing and file transmit support (both onsite and remotely) for photographers at entertainment, music, and fashion events.

• Identify the most impactful photographs ensuring that all relevant aspects of an event are covered.

• Prioritize image selection and transmit with consideration for the market, customers and deadlines.

• Create and edit captions in line with Shutterstock’s guidelines and standards.

• Work alongside clients and customers, ensuring all deliverables are met

• Maintain full awareness and interest in global entertainment and celebrity events, news, trends, fashions, and celebrities.

• Troubleshoot photo software and connectivity issues onsite at events 

Requirements:

• 2+ years of professional event-based photo editing experience

• Expertise working with industry standard image editing tools and processes (including Adobe Photoshop, Photo Mechanic, and FTP clients)

• Familiarity with Nikon, Canon, and Sony camera bodies and wireless transmit workflows

• Familiarity with metadata and captioning standards

• Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with proven ability to handle multiple (and competing) priorities and imminent deadlines.

• Comfortable working in high pressure, fast-paced situations

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and ability to work well alongside a team, both in person and remotely.

• Available to work non-traditional schedules including evenings and weekends

• PLEASE NOTE: This position requires a MacBook Pro laptop and relevant image editing software.
