Built In (NY) is seeking a versatile freelance lifestyle photographer to help us capture the vibrant (NY) startup scene. In this role, you’ll photograph collaborative teams, individuals, and office interiors on an as-needed basis.

The photographer should be adaptive and quick on their feet. They should possess an excellent sense of composition, as well as the ability to adhere to our photographic style guide. Photographers will coach the subjects on expression and pose, while getting shots from a variety of angles. They are comfortable shooting in a variety of location scenarios and have a friendly, casual manner when coaching subjects to capture posed and candid shots. A typical photo shoot will be three hours of shooting and we assume around 3 hours of post-shoot processing and delivery.

The photographer should be available during business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30a-5:30p, and will typically be needed 2 to 3 times a month. In addition to the shoot, the photographer will be responsible for selecting, processing, formatting, and uploading the finished images to a remote server within 3-5 business days. We pay $750 for each shoot that yields a minimum of 30 usable shots.

• A background in environmental portraiture
• A command of available and artificial lighting techniques
• Clean, uncluttered approach to composition
• Good impulses for location selection
• Polite, with excellent people skills
• Ability to direct and pose working and casual scenarios in the office space

• 16+ megapixel DSLR with RAW capabilities
• Fixed telephoto lens for shallow depth portraits
• Wide angle zoom for groups and interiors
• Basic zoom lens for versatility
• Handheld flash with diffusion screen
• Two blank 16G flash ram cards

• Each shoot is three hours in duration
• Photographer is responsible for their own transportation and parking
• Post processing software, such as lightroom or photoshop
• Clean, casual, office appropriate attire
