Freight Audit Team Lead

Flexport is looking for a Bill approval and dispute lead with revenue growing at breakneck speed. In this role, you’ll be responsible for responding to escalations regarding billing from our ocean or trucking partners, reviewing and approving bills to be paid to our vendors, working cross-functionally to proactively identify detention and demurrage opportunities, and continually looking for ways to improve our audit and review process.

• Do whatever it takes to help our partners and customers to resolve billing-related questions and problems 
• Respond to billing escalations from client solutions, vendors, and other internal departments
• Approve or dispute incoming invoices
• Audit negative shipment invoices
• Identifying disputable invoices and package for dispute with carriers
• Negotiate disputes with carriers
• Advise Flexport of customer billing errors
• Manage a team of offshore associates

• Requires at least 2-4 years of related experience. Bachelor's degree required or equivalent years of relevant work experience
• Knowledge of products and technology within the industry
• Experience with regards to imports and/or exports from a sales, operational, or procurement perspective
• Experience with negotiating invoices with vendors
• Experience with partner bills and origin charges
• Experience building and maintaining relationships and partnerships with vendors
• Analytical skills and metric/data-based approach to solving problems
• Strong analytical background and knowledge of analytical tools (Excel, etc)
• Strategic vision and ground floor execution
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
