About the team

The Localization team at Stripe aims to create the best user experience across various markets and languages. Our mission is to ensure that Stripe feels at home everywhere, regardless of the language or regional preferences. The work of the Localization team isn't merely about translating words; it's about making Stripe's online payments platform more accessible, inclusive, and efficient for our worldwide user base. We play a fundamental role in Stripe's mission to grow the GDP of the internet.

What youโ€™ll do

As the French Language Manager at Stripe, you will work cross-functionally to drive the French language localization efforts, ensuring all user-facing content is linguistically accurate and culturally relevant. You will be both a language expert and a crucial communicator, liaising with internal teams and external vendors to meet and maintain high linguistic standards. Your responsibilities will span from overseeing the translation and quality assurance of content, to spearheading the localization of new products and features. In addition, you will collaborate on globalization strategy, contribute to team-wide initiatives and projects, and share collective learning and development within the team.

Responsibilities

  • ย Assert full ownership and authority of the French Localization Program at Stripe, driving the linguistic strategy and making key language decisions to ensure outstanding quality of all French user-facing content.
  • Oversee translation, review, and quality assurance of content, safeguarding alignment with Stripe's brand voice and style in French.
  • Manage and update Stripe's French glossary and style guide, creating a consistent linguistic approach across all localized content.
  • Address linguistic queries and issues, both internal and external, swiftly and efficiently, acting as the go-to authority for all French language matters.
  • Monitor the success of language quality initiatives and leverage data-driven insights to inform continuous improvement strategies for the French language program.
  • Act as the primary contact during French language emergency communication processing, ensuring real-time and accurate responses.
  • Advocate for the interests of French-speaking markets within Stripe, aligning the French language localization strategy with wider business objectives.

Shared Responsibilities

  • Liaise with internal teams, working together to maintain high linguistic standards and meet delivery deadlines across all languages.
  • Contribute to overarching localization projects and initiatives, leveraging personal expertise to improve processes and outcomes.
  • Participate in rotating responsibility of managing the team Slack channel, ensuring timely and effective responses.
  • Collaborate with the Localization Quality Program Manager to refine and enhance overall localization strategies and efficiencies.
  • Engage in team-wide learning and development, staying abreast of industry trends and best practices.
  • Document insights and experiences to contribute to the team's shared knowledge base, assisting in onboarding and training of new team members.
  • Support fellow Language Managers during peak periods or in their absence, ensuring uninterrupted delivery of services.
  • Collaborate in preparing regular reports and reviews, providing data and insights from the French program to inform wider team strategy.
  • Actively participate in continuous process improvement within the Localization Team.
