Front-End Developer

Aether is Aevum's proprietary transportation system that enables the transport of physical goods to Earth-bound and space-bound destinations. The Autonomous Technologies Team of Aevum is charged with designing, developing, testing, producing, delivering, maintaining, and disposing autonomous technologies for the Aether Transportation System.

The Autonomous Technologies Team of Aevum is seeking a Front-End Developer. You will engage with Aevum engineers and developers to define requirements and develop graphical user interfaces for a variety of technologies that help connect humans to Aevum's autonomous machines, including the Ravn X autonomous launch vehicle. You will be the responsible developer for the complete life-cycle of the user interfaces that you develop.

The ideal candidate is academically astute, inquisitive and relentlessly focused on mission success. This is a fast-paced, associate- to mid- career position. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated success developing and deploying user interfaces for use in production.

• Be the glue between design and engineering
• Be a strong advocate for UX
• Develop UI against customer requirements
• Work closely with the autonomous launch vehicle team to understand flight hardware specifications and derive technical requirements to support the development of reliable mission software
• Critically think through real-world scenarios described by customers or team leads and help develop necessary software applications
• Build prototypes and frameworks for design processes
• Research or partner with researchers on product design
• Write production code using version control system
• Work within a multidisciplinary engineering team to achieve a goal against tight deadlines
• Support community work such as giving presentations or recruiting by creating tools to help support team members in other departments
• Research technical topics and report to team lead as requested

Limited amount of travel may be required to support flight tests and space launch operations.

All new employees are expected to invest the time to develop working relationships with co-workers in one of Aevum's offices. Once a functional workflow is established, Aevum allows remote work and you set your own work hours.

• 2+ years of experience developing UI/UX using HTML, CSS, JavaScript. Experience using React or other similar front-end JavaScript libraries
• Familiarity with web application frameworks such as Django, Next JS, or other similar frameworks; experience developing web apps is a plus
• Deep, working knowledge of JavaScript
• Great collaboration skills to work alongside design, research, and product partners
• Works comfortably under pressure and meets tight deadlines
• Effective communication and teamwork skills
• Demonstrated ability to be trusted with confidential, classified, proprietary, and/or export-controlled information/data

• Experience working with authentication and authorization services
• Experience working with secure API's, familiarity API security processes and concepts
• General understanding of databases
• Understanding of REST
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering or technical related field and 0-5 years of experience in high-level programming languages such as Python
• Demonstrated experience successfully developing and deploying web applications
• Experience with architectures and frameworks and UX - "full stack developer with strong front end skills"
• Experience building products and UI libraries that ship
• Experience working with serverless deployment platforms like Heroku, Vercel, AWS Lambda, Firebase, etc.
• Experience working with frameworks like Django, Angular, Vue.js, jQuery, React, Next, Flask, etc.
• Experience working with teams working on the backend of web applications or software architecture design
• Experience with CICD methods
• Working knowledge of software architectures and design concepts

• As needed, must be willing to work extended hours and weekends to meet deadlines

Yearly salary range $70,000 to $130,000, commensurate to experience or skill
