Location: Chicago

Hybrid Schedule: 2 days in office (500 W. Madison) per week

Job Summary
As an Engineering Manager, you will lead a software engineering team and drive robust hybrid HTML5, native app development on Android and other device platforms. You will collaborate closely with product managers, product designers, backend platform development teams, DevOps, Security, and PMO teams to create the ultimate experience for PatientPoint products. You will be helping with drive development and assisting with design decisions.

In this role, you will demonstrate technical leader-level qualities, lead the conversation, have an eye for brilliant design, articulate the total value of each technical solution, and have a knack for pushing projects from concept to release. You thrive in environments focused on writing code that improves user experience and the overall application's performance. What You’ll Do

  • Lead an application development team of developers and QA members using Scrum ceremonies and methodologies. 
  • Lead ongoing development and maintenance activities, including leading code reviews. You will guide the team on best practices. 
  • Manage your team and ensure completion of coding and QA assignments on time. Ensure quality of deliverables and system-level documentation. 
  • Collaborate with Architecture and Technical Product teams for solution design. 
  • Be the Technical Lead and participate in all Scrum processes, including Sprint Planning, Daily Stand-ups. 
  • Improve individual team members' performance, processes, and quality across all teams. 
  • Support team members training and career goals 
  • Help to hire and retain top engineering talent. 
  • Ensure your knowledge of technology and tools is current.

What We Need

  • 6+ years of software engineering experience. 
  • 2+ years of leading software delivery teams. 
  • Previous experience as a Hands on Front-End Engineer
  • Leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to guide and inspire a team 
  • Experience with Agile development approaches. 
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, working effectively with cross-functional teams 
  • A solid understanding of semantic HTML, CSS, and core JavaScript concepts. 
  • Experience with one or more modern JavaScript web frameworks such as React, Vue.js, Angular, Ember, etc. 
  • Experience with mobile application development with preference to Android 
  • Good understanding of web standards and browser concepts (e.g., how the browser parses and constructs a web page) 
  • Understanding issues of embedded web applications within resource-constrained environments 
  • Experience in integrating web technologies to server-side and embedded device native applications. 
  • Experience working across teams to foster adoption of libraries, patterns, and architectural approaches
  • knowledge with different types of APIs such as REST, GraphQL, and gRPC APIs
  • Experience with Continuous Integration / Deployment 

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelors in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field/work experience
  • Experience with React ecosystem
  • Working knowledge of various Component Libraries and Design Systems
  • Understanding of both NoSQL and Relational databases.
  • Experience deploying and integrating with AWS Cloud-based solutions
  • Embedded app development experience is a plus
