Front-End Software Engineer

We are looking for a talented candidate with solid JavaScript web development backgrounds with a wide range of experience, from recent college graduates to senior-level leads to join the Yahoo Finance Web team. The candidate will work in an agile environment, develop and maintain UI, data models, and web services across various web components. In addition, this candidate will optimize presentation layer components and web services for performance and an exceptional user experience. This candidate will collaborate directly with a cross-functional team of Architect, Designers, Engineers, Product Managers, and other stakeholders to facilitate the design and development process.
Responsibilities:

• Build responsive and compelling Web applications, components
• Code using JavaScript, HTML, CSS and AJAX
• Identify performance bottlenecks in JavaScript components and data service layer
• Proactively optimize for scalability, efficiency, and maintainability in a practical way
• Follow good coding, testing, and documenting best practices and adhere to existing standards
• Ensure quality of code by writing tests and doing code reviews
• Build reusable code and libraries.

A Lot About You:

• Bachelors or greater in Computer Science or equivalent (e.g. 3+ years work experience).
• 2 plus years of experience in development engineering, with at least 1 year of building web-centric products, with a demonstrated ability to understand high-performance, high-usage web applications.
• Deep understanding, solid and versatile experience with standard web technologies.
• Good knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, AJAX, XML and cross-browser platforms.
• Good knowledge of usability principles and best practices is required.
