Front End Web Developer

Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Senior Digital Marketing Engineer, this role will assist with the daily updates, new designs, and experiments regularly added to the website. With a keen eye for performance, accuracy, design implementation and usability, this individual will help our marketing team create exceptional user experiences on our websites to drive growth and success of our customers and Marketing team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Write JavaScript and CSS code that closely aligns with provided design examples and behavior specifications
• Save work daily to the version control system
• Write tests for the frontend code pipeline
• Provide timely feedback and communication on any problems discovered
• Ensure that the website code is conforming to WCAG 2.1 AA standards
• Ensure that the website code performance meets specified benchmarks
• Build custom pages for A/B experiments
• Inform team and stakeholders of progress on tasks
• Identify and address issues related to the websites proactively

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Develop web-based user interfaces using React.js
• Excellent knowledge of semantic HTML
• Ability to write and understand CSS and CSS modules in React.js
• Familiarity with debugging problems using appropriate tools
• Knowledge of JavaScript programming design patterns and best practices
• Mobile first code implementation with a focus on very fast performance
• Proactively handles technical problems and questions
• Can effectively collaborate with non-technical team members

Preferred Skills

• Familiar with Storybook and/or understands how to code for a design system
• Direct to consumer and form development experience
• Has used Git version control
• Proficient in popular React tools such as webpack, Next.js, React Hook Form, Redux, etc.
• Knowledge of front-end testing tools such as React Testing Library, Jest, Cypress
• Familiar with accessibility best practices and benchmarks
• Keeps up-to-date with web coding best practices and tools
• Familiar with AWS serverless tools
• Familiar with HTTP protocols and REST, GraphQL APIs
• Self-motivated and enjoys learning new technical skills and putting them into practice

Education and Experience

• At least 2 years experience in front-end development
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or alternative computer programming training
