FRONT-END WEB DEVELOPER INTERN

POSITION SUMMARY

Work with the Web Content team to develop and maintain Minitab’s global corporate web properties using front-end web development skills and techniques to meet the strategic needs of the business.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Help maintain content, content translations, and participate in content publishing.

Develop and maintain technical proficiencies in HTML, CSS, JavaScript and related web technologies.

Participate in an iterative design and implementation lifecycle with Minitab’s Marketing department and outside design firms.

Assist in identifying, documenting, and fixing complex bugs within a team coding and review process, as well as creating innovative solutions to web design and functionality issues.

Actively participate in discussions about department coding standards and best practices. Help research new technologies, as needed, that drive innovation.

Understand Minitab’s business rules, strategies, and goals and ensure alignment of our websites in support of Minitab’s Global Business Objectives.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop, implement, and maintain websites using Adobe Experience Manager CMS to include site architecture, custom components, workflow development, and Digital Asset Management.

Help document Adobe Experience Manager based application development procedures.

Provide front-end web development assistance to the Marketing Operations, Information Development, and Business Information Systems teams.

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE

1. Enrolled in an Associate or Bachelor’s degree program in Computer Science, IT or a closely related discipline or equivalent experience.
2. Web development experience using latest technologies with JavaScript, HTML, CSS, JSON, Web Services, APIs, and secure programming principles.
3. Strong grasp of HTML, CSS, JavaScript and related web technologies.
4. Experience in web design and design patterns.
5. Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and how to resolve.
6. Understanding of SEO best practices.

The following are also desirable:

1. Working experience with at least one well-known CMS platform.
2. Experience with building complex layouts with CSS and HTML that follow user experience design best practices.
3. Experience with git.
4. Experience using an agile development process.
5. Working knowledge of Photoshop.
6. Some ability to do front-end to back-end development using ASP.NET/.NET/C#.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

1. Above average computing skills, including a general knowledge of operating systems and application packages.
2. Ability to work well in a team of skilled software professionals with the ability to build consensus for new practices and technologies.
3. Ability to learn new technologies quickly and to discern the relevancies, applicability, and usefulness of those technologies to Minitab.
4. Ability to demonstrate initiative and solve moderate to complex technical problems.
5. Ability and desire to contribute to small teams and projects, and to receive and provide mentoring with other Web Content Management developers.
6. Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language.
