Title:  Front End Engineering Manager

Overview: 

Premise looks for engineering leaders to be both very creative and highly technical.  You will dig into the nuts and bolts of technical challenges that our engineering teams face and make pragmatic decisions that balance near-term delivery with long-term viability.  You are people focused, always building, growing and mentoring the team.  You are a champion of processes, choosing lightweight and flexible solutions that are always right for the task at hand.  

Responsibilities:  

• Manage and grow our front-end teams, building web-based products for Premise customers and internal teams
• Lead execution of team deliverables, run effective sprints, and work with the teams to achieve their goals
• Support setting the short-, mid- and long-term technical roadmaps for the team in collaboration with the technical leads and the leadership team
• Foster a healthy and collaborative team culture and be a role model of our core values.  Model collaboration, inclusiveness and respect
• Mentor and guide the professional and technical development of our team members. Help develop their careers and assign them to projects tailored to their skill levels, personalities, work styles, and professional goals
• Participate in code reviews and technical whiteboard discussions. Support trading off technical debt versus the pace of progress
• Collaborate closely with leads and engineering leaders working on different teams across the org

Basic Qualifications:

• Professional experience with delivering software, preferably web-based enterprise software for external customers as well as internal users 
• Proven ability to operate effectively and autonomously across multiple teams in situations of ambiguity, with only high level direction
• Ability to deliver in the short-term while preparing for the long-term
• Ability to communicate highly technical problems and solutions at all levels from engineers to C-level executives
• Demonstrated success in a fast-paced environment and collaborating across teams and disciplines
• Openness to new / different ideas. Ability to evaluate multiple approaches and choose the best one based on first principles
• Comfortable with code and systems design (including microservices architectures)
• 3+ years of people management experience

Preferred Qualifications: 

• Experience with the full engineering stack
• Experience with building data visualization solutions
• Experience working in distributed companies or with international teams
• You excel in ambiguity and are confident in diving deep
