Launcher is a Vast company that develops Orbiter (Space tug and hosted payload platform) and the E-2 liquid rocket engine.

The Team
Vast’s Application Software team develops the software to test, manufacture, and command/control our vehicles. As an engineering team in pursuit of excellence, we don’t believe in half measures and are looking for more engineers like us. We'd like to hear from you if this sounds like where you belong.
 
The Role
Help us build our secure, multi-tenant ground system for Launcher's orbital vehicles. The system currently supports research and development by interacting with the avionics software on the test stand. Your responsibility will be building the front and back end application software for mission operations and control to safely and efficiently operate our on-orbit satellites. 
 
Responsibilities
  • Gather requirements and feedback on the mission control software across disciplines like mission management, flight software, RF engineering, guidance navigation and control, and mechanical engineering to deliver high-quality user-facing applications.
  • Prototype, test, and improve software from concept to launch (literally).
  • Ensure software is reliable and automate ongoing maintenance.
  • Build secure and resilient software to protect our operations.

Basic Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, Informatics, or similar area of study.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong skills in HTML5, CSS,3, React, JavaScript ES6.
  • Collaborative mindset.
  • Problem solver with a bias for action.
  • Experience building applications in the cloud.
  • Experience writing and securing REST APIs.
  • Knows how to work in a continuous build and test environment and understand the tools used.
  • Familiarity with Git.
  • Experience with database design, implementation, and security.
  • Front-end: HTML, CSS, Webpack, Typescript.
  • Back-end: Golang, Grafana, InfluxDB, SQL, NoSQL, Redis.
  • Cloud: AWS, GCP, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, VPC.
  • Networking: HTTP(S), DNS, OSI Network Model, Subnets.
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian Suite (JIRA, Bitbucket, Confluence) is a plus.

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, including the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) you must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
