Job Description Summary:

PayPal Credit products play a vital role in fulfilling PayPal’s mission to democratize financial services. Within the Credit team, we are striving to re-imagine our credit products to provide fair, fast and flexible products that responsibly enable our Customers to meet their financial goals.

We are seeking a software engineer to join a new team in Chicago that will partner with two existing teams in Silicon Valley to help us design and build PayPal consumer experiences for Buy Now Pay Later: When you choose the Pay in 4 option while paying with PayPal, that's our product! As a team member of our consumer product development team, you will play a meaningful role in developing applications for PayPal customers to apply for and use Buy Now Pay Later. You will closely collaborate with teams in Silicon Valley, Scottsdale and Baltimore. You will obtain practical work experience in high-traffic critical applications, learn about PayPal business, and receive mentorship and training opportunities.

Job Description:

The Day To Day:

  • Write code! Build mobile and web applications to help customers apply for and utilize PayPal Credit’s diverse product portfolio

  • Collaborate with the team in an agile environment to deliver innovative, quality code iteratively

  • Care deeply about code craftspersonship and quality, bringing an enthusiasm for using the best practices of scalability, accessibility, maintenance, and testing into everyday development

  • Partner daily with design & product to build great customer experiences

Qualifications:

  • Ability and desire to do great software engineering: You are doing it now, and your background shows you will pick up quickly what you have not already learned

  • Experience in JavaScript/Node and RESTful APIs, and experience with modern web front-end technologies such as React.

  • B.S. in Computer Science or Software Engineering is desired, or equivalent experience and knowledge of CS/SE fundamentals.
