Fumigator
Job Description
Job Summary:
Sets up Flat Storage, Silo's and NW Bins for fumigation and fumigates. Operates the HDS dispenser using gas in a cylinder. Monitors work area looking for leaks during fumigation and aerate structures after fumigation cycle is completed. Assists fumigation lead in maintaining all fumigation records and licenses. Communicates to department lead or management of all issues and concerns.
Job Description:
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepares various sites and storage areas to be fumigated by cleaning, sealing and performing a safety check of the area to be fumigated. Responsible for the proper dispensation and disposal methods and types of fumigants involved in industrial and documents fumigation. Maintains all fumigation activity records.
- May be required to complete monthly summary usage reports for the Department of Agriculture in the absence of the Fumigation Lead.
- Require to perform weekly fumigation material inventory. Transport cylinders of gas to Sacramento from Blumenfield warehouse
- Other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned. This may include, but not limited to, performing S.C.B.A. training and operating Levee, Blumenfield, Levee Warehouse and/or Silos.
POSITION DIMENSIONS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Education Level and Focus:
- Must have high school diploma or equivalent.
Years and Type of Related Experience Required:
- Position requires knowledge of tools.
Skills and Abilities:
- Able to work in adverse conditions
Interpersonal and Communication:
- Position may require to performed duties alone or as a group.
Technical and Analytical:
- May be asked to assist and help solve technical problems in the field. Must be able to work with a variety of hand tools.
Administration and Operations:
- Work may consists of repetitive tasks and involve few choices. Must understand Blue Diamond line certification, HACCP processes and auditing, Good Manufacturing Procedures (GMPs) and safety practices. Work is checked regularly. Effect of errors is minimal. Must have or be able to obtain a Hazardous Material Drivers' License.
Physical Demands:
- The position may require the ability to meet the physical demands of heavy lifting to carry out the assigned duties. May be required to attend outside training seminars. Must be able to work overtime, weekends, and holidays as required.
Work Environment:
- Position may require employee to work around energized equipment and is routinely exposed to hazardous materials. Position may require the exposure to various adverse conditions such as, heat, cold, noise, dust, fumes, dirt, and grease, and chemical substance.
Special Equipment Used:
- Scissor lifts, Forklifts, Low range gas detector, high range gas detector and SCBA.
