Job Description

US GAAP Technical Accounting Intern-Remote

About the Role

The US GAAP Technical Accounting Intern is an editorial staff position. Desired candidates are seniors pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in accounting. The position requires knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles in the United States and strong project management skills.

The US GAAP Technical Accounting Intern will perform a critical role in updating content for two powerful, market-leading online accounting research publications designed to help accountants and financial reporting professionals ensure compliance with US GAAP- Thomson Reuters GAAP Reporter and Thomson Reuters Checkpoint Catalyst: US GAAP.

Working closely with technical accounting editors (CPAs), the Intern will help the editorial team keep the content current by researching real-company examples and providing rapid product updates for significant developments in accounting standard-setting.

Offer details:
• $20 per hour
• 24 to 40 hours per week (accommodating to class schedules)
• 100% remote worker

The Intern will help create, integrate, and maintain a variety of insights that are unique to the publications. The insights consist of descriptions of common practice or pitfalls in applying the guidance, summaries of recent or emerging updates to the Codification, illustrative examples of required GAAP disclosures, and excerpts from SEC comment letters, among others. The Intern will have the opportunity to sharpen his or her financial accounting and research skills and compare financial statement disclosures to find the best examples to add to our products.

We also welcome the Intern's help in updating supplemental practice aids and tools, such as checklists and decision trees. Finally, the Intern may have an opportunity to author concise, plain language restatements or summaries of FASB Exposure Drafts or Final Accounting Standards Update, as needed.

As an editorial staff member, the Intern will be trained to work directly in the editorial software. The Intern may be involved in multiple projects and will be responsible for working independently, tracking his or her progress on each project, and updating the editorial team on a weekly basis. Therefore, strong project management skills and attention to detail are required.
