Game Writer

Magic Tavern is seeking a game writer for our latest title, Modern Community! We’re looking for a wordsmith who can write dramatic and humorous dialogue, create dynamic and interesting characters, and replicate the existing tone and voice of our game, all while bringing a fresh perspective to the team. 

At Magic Tavern, we create engaging casual games for the global market and are best known for our hit titles Matchington Mansion and Project Makeover! As game writer, you’ll join our narrative team to create fun and engaging stories for our players!

This is a full time, fully-remote position that allows you to work from home. Our core hours are Monday - Friday, 1pm - 4pm ET/10am - 1pm PT.

Core Responsibilities:

• Writing extensive dialogue for characters.

• Conceptualizing new dramatic situations, stories, and characters.

• Communicating story ideas with members of the team.

• Writing UI text for sales, events, and tutorials.

• Creating documentation for new ideas or features.

What We Need:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a solid understanding of spelling and grammar.

• The ability to receive feedback on your work and apply the revisions.

• The ability to generate ideas and write them quickly.

• Great team player (very fun team).

• Strong knowledge of Google Docs/Sheets.

• Be open to learning new tools and processes.

• Be open to sharing your knowledge with others.

Our ideal candidate is someone who…

• Experience writing for video games, especially in a live service environment.

• Experience writing comic books, television, films, or plays. 

• BA or BS degree in English, or Creative Writing.

• A love for casual mobile games.

• Ability to speak multiple languages.

• A sense of humor
