GCP Engineer SQL Database Expertise (Spanner and Cassandra)

About the Role:

We are actively seeking a GCP Database Engineer specialized in NoSQL databases particularly with proficiency in Spanner and Cassandra. This role is tailored for individuals who excel in building and optimizing NoSQL database solutions within Google Cloud Platform environments. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in database technologies and cloud-based architectures combined with the ability to work effectively in a remote environment. A thorough knowledge of public cloud platforms specifically GCP is crucial. This remote position calls for exceptional communication skills and a knack for independently tackling complex challenges with innovative solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain NoSQL databases on GCP with a strong emphasis on Spanner and Cassandra.

• Develop strategies to optimize database performance scalability and reliability within GCP.

• Manage database migrations and integrations ensuring seamless transition and minimal downtime.

• Provide expertise in database design and architecture focusing on NoSQL solutions.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate NoSQL databases into broader system architectures.

• Design and execute automation strategies encompassing DevOps pipelines scripting and Terraform-based Infrastructure as Code.

• Engage actively in client sessions to understand and address their needs.

• Prepare and maintain detailed technical documentation.

• Troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues maintaining high availability and performance.

• Stay abreast of the latest developments in GCP and NoSQL database technologies.

Essential Qualifications:

• Demonstrate expertise in managing NoSQL databases especially Spanner &Cassandra within the GCP environment.

• Strong background in cloud architecture and solutions particularly in Google Cloud Platform.

• Skilled in database performance tuning and optimization.

• Strong programming capabilities in Java and Python.

• Proficient in database migration and integration strategies.

• Ability to work independently in a remote setting with strong communication skills.

• Familiarity of best practices in database security and maintenance.

• Hands on experience in troubleshooting and resolving database related issues.

• Hands on experience in public cloud platforms particularly GCP.

• Additional experience with other cloud technologies advantageous.

Must Have:

• Google Google Cloud Associate level certification and Database.

• 4+ years of experience in customer-facing software/technology or consulting.

• 4+ years of experience with “on-premises to cloud” migrations or IT transformations.

• 4+ years of experience building and operating solutions built on GCP (ideally) or AWS/Azure.

• Technical degree: Computer Science software engineering or related.
