Gear Support Intern

Position Summary:

Assembly or Gear Process/Quality Intern will be responsible for supporting production processes through development of standardized communication strategies for Key Process Indicators and assisting in prototype and engineering specialized production builds. Intern will also support of plant goals through daily and weekly common tasks, as well as continuation of several long-term projects which may be handed off at the end of the assigned term.

Position Responsibilities:

• Project - Work with Planning Specialist for data mining activities to support plant Six Sigma projects and other production operation studies.
• Project - Work with Lean Specialist and Planning Specialist on launching new division 5-S and common production communication boards.
• Project - Organize and setup a common folder and file system for the assembly manufacturing network share drive.
• Project - Work with plant IT specialists and support launch of new online production database
• Daily Task - work closely with process/quality engineers and planning specialist on specific tasks in production including but not limited to: standardized work instructions, updating production documents, gathering engineering samples and organizing shipments.
• Daily Task - gather and distribute daily production data to key team members via standardized reports.
• As Needed - Support other departments and employees when additional assistance is required to expedite high priority tasks.
• As Needed - Support plant physical inventory activities including planned non-production days to perform plant-wide physical inventory process.

Essential Skills and Experience:

• Training/Education Requirements: High School diploma (or equivalent) required and currently enrolled in college.
• Strong computer skills required; candidate must be proficient in MS-Office Suite, with proficient understanding of MS Excel in Macros and formulas.
• Must be quality oriented and pay attention to detail.
• Must be self-motivated, with ability to prioritize and accept direction from multiple sources.
• Must have good interpersonal and communication skills and be able to work in a team environment.

Preferred Skills and experience:

• Previous manufacturing experience

Physical demands and work environment:

• Must be able to perform repetitive tasks in a specified time while standing.
• This position is required to do extensive walking, pushing & pulling throughout the production areas.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. (11 kg) and use fine motor skills to handle parts or tools in a repetitive production environment.
