R-Zero needs a strategic General Counsel to partner with our CEO and executive team, who can provide tactical business support as well as big-picture thinking. You’ll be trusted to partner with leaders across the organization - BD, Sales, HR, Operations - to understand and mitigate risk and improve business outcomes.
You’re ready for this role if you’re a strategic leader with strong legal experience in corporate, employment, IP, trademark, copyright, and contract law, looking to make an impact in a fast-paced, mission-driven organization.
What You’ll Do
- Provide expert and strategic legal advice to management
- Set internal governance policies and manage the impact of external factors
- Evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of any decision or course of action
- Anticipate issues and estimate risks strategically
- Identify proactive solutions that will eliminate or mitigate risk to R-Zero
- Base your decision making process on ethics and integrity
- Create associations of trust and respect with key stakeholders
- Work with external parties (regulators, external counsel, politicians, clients)
- Attract, develop, direct, motivate and drive performance from team
- Draft agreements that minimize risks and maximize legal rights
- Meet legal objectives
- Lead complex, significant matters that cut across legal and related areas
- Keep abreast of legislative change
What We’re Looking For:
- 15+ years experience working primarily for high growth tech; startups a plus
- JD degree from accredited law school
- Active License to practice law in at least one state
- 10+ years relevant post law school experience in legal capacity
- 5 years of experience experience leading diverse teams
- Must be strategic, analytical, organized and with a high EQ
- Experience with contract structure, drafting and negotiations
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Strategic Negotiation skills
- Excellent judgment and attention to detail
- Ability to analyze complex issues and reach a quick resolution
- Strong prioritization and sense of urgency - manage workload and perform multiple tasks under tight deadlines
- Exceptional discretion - you can handle sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to work autonomously, requiring little supervision or direction
- Excellent business judgment and well-developed problem-solving abilities
- Ability to listen, provide influence and counsel
- Experience in mergers and acquisitions
- Experience with contractual law
- Experience with product compliance laws and management
- Experience in Risk Management
Travel
This position may require up to 25% domestic travel.
