General Counsel
Job Description
As a General Counsel for Slingshot Aerospace you will provide strategic guidance, consultation, and support to minimize risk and protect company operations while enabling revenue generating elements of the business. This role will advise executives and senior leaders on various matters, manage outside counsels, and anticipate and assess risks. This role will work directly with our Contracts, Corporate Development, and People Operations teams to oversee compliance and corporate governance. Â
Position Responsibilities:Â- Executes all position responsibilities in alignment with Slingshot’s core values, mission, and purpose
- Serve as a member of the organization’s Senior Leadership Team and contribute to the achievement of high impact company goals
- Maintain knowledge of organization’s operations records and legal documents; preserve all corporate records
- Structure, draft, negotiate and review agreements, such as employment agreements and vendor agreements
- Structure, draft, negotiate and review a wide variety of customer agreements with private companies and governments including master service agreements, supplier agreements and various other agreements
- Conduct legal research and create litigation strategy for business activities
- Work closely with business development, program management, and contract terms to respond to complex client needs and increase the efficiency of business operations
- Create and enforce internal governance policies
- Manage the organization's intellectual property and contracts
- Anticipate issues and estimate risks; evaluate and weigh multiple inputs and impacts of decisions or practical courses of actionÂ
- Deal with complex, significant issues that cut across legal and related areas
- Create and manage new domestic and international entitiesÂ
- Provide guidance to leadership on fundraising materials and agreements related to capitol as well as equity
- Perform other duties as assigned (to be less than 10% of the responsibilities listed above)
- Must be a U.S. citizen eligible for government clearances
- BSc degree in Law or J.D. degree, licensed to practice law in the United States
- 7+ years of experience providing legal counsel in a business environment
- Overall broad legal knowledge (corporate law, litigations, labor law, etc)
- Experience negotiating fundraising agreements for venture backed startups
- Experience working with U.S. government entities or lawmakersÂ
- A proven record of successfully working interdisciplinary across teams and a fast paced startup environmentÂ
- Licensed to practice law in at least one of the following states, California, New York, Texas, or Colorado
- Experience with federal government contracts and FAR regulations
- Experience in a technology/product based organization is strongly desired
- Experience in law and legal practices governing space, aviation or the military
