EquityBee is hiring a General Counsel to grow and lead our global legal teams. The General Counsel will own and improve our existing product and offerings while helping to research, develop, and implement our future product offerings. This is a crucial role in the business with the opportunity to make a substantial impact on the growth of our products.

As the leader of EquityBee’s legal organization, this role will act as the legal advisor to the executive team and board, orchestrating all legal corporate work for the organization, and managing and expanding our current legal team. The ideal candidate will have previously served as General Counsel or as a Legal Executive for a rapid growth Fintech company.

• Work with business leaders to determine the legal feasibility of new product lines
• Maintain full ownership of the company’s legal priorities and processes
• Advise leadership and other team members on a variety of legal issues and act as a strategic advisor to the organization from a legal counsel perspective
• Actively anticipate and address potential legal risks
• Work closely with our product teams to determine feasibility of new features for existing products
• Oversee all legal aspects of our transactional operations
• Manage a team of internal legal professionals as well as outside counsel
• Lead communications with regulatory authorities
• Balance legal risk with business needs and communicate legal advice clearly and effectively to team members of all levels
• Introduce and communicate our financial products to professional and regulatory bodies, as well as to other startup companies and tech investors

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience as a General Counsel or Legal Executive
• Experienced in instituting new products and services to market
• Experience establishing and growing a legal infrastructure within a startup environment
• Effective leader of both people and cross-functional teams that deliver legal services across the business
• Results-oriented, with a sense of urgency and with the ability manage and spearhead multiple projects simultaneously
• Good understanding of Federal Securities Law
• Experience with brokerage issues at a financial services institution
• Ability to effectively work under minimal guidance and direction; self -starter
  

• Expertise in Employee Compensation regimes and ESOP
• Strong understanding of FINRA Private Securities Transactions Rules
• Experience with employee stock options formalities and grant administration
• ISO and NSO regulation and taxation
• Derivatives & Structured Products, PVFC in particular
• Fund and Trust formation and administration
• Series 7 and Series 24 is an advantage but not required
• Wide network of industry professionals and connections in the financial services space
