Summary
Position is located within the Air Traffic Organization, Technical Operations Division and reports to the District System Support Centers. Serves as a General Maintenance Mechanic that accomplishes routine and emergency repair, evaluation, and installation of buildings and structures, facilities, and grounds maintenance. Incumbent has working knowledge in at least one of the areas of carpentry, electrical, mechanical, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), or plumbing trades.

Qualifications
To qualify, no specific length of experience or training is required; however, you must show evidence of experience and/or training of sufficient scope and quality that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of a journey person Maintenance Mechanic in your resume.
Screen-Out Element: This is a Screen-Out Element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. The Screen-Out Element for this position is: Ability to do the work of a Maintenance Mechanic without more than normal supervision which includes your demonstrated ability to independently provide mechanical maintenance to one or more of the following: electrical systems, engine generators, and/or heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) units; and experience in emergency and routine repairs of facilities. Your resume must reflect your demonstrated abilities listed in the Screen out Element.
Eligible candidates will be ranked based on Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA), if applicable. In addition to the minimum qualifications, Other Factor number 1 has been determined to be a screen-out element for this position. This means possession of this criterion is part of the minimum qualifications and is essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position. This position is covered by the Department of Transportation's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program. Any applicant tentatively selected for this position will be subject to pre-employment or pre-appointment drug screening. Persons occupying a "testing designated position (TDP)" will be subject to random drug and/or alcohol testing.
Security Requirements:Moderate Risk (5): This position requires completion and favorable adjudication of a National Agency Check with Inquiry (NACI) background investigation prior to appointment, unless a waiver is obtained.
Interviews: Interviews may be conducted IAW FAA Policy and/or applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Physical Effort: Considerable lifting of heavy materials and working tools, and extensive standing, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling are inherent in this position. Also, incumbent will be working under variable conditions which require using protective clothing and gear, safety devices and safe trade practices. Incumbent must be physically able to wear OSHA standard personal protective equipment (PPE) per 29 CFR.
Working Conditions: Incumbent works inside and outside during all kinds of weather conditions including varying temperatures.
This is a bargaining unit position. This position is represented by PASS: Regional Tech Ops and AEA.
