General Manager Trainee

Job Summary:

MUST BE WILLING TO TRAVEL 75-85% OF THE TIME. Remote work when not traveling.

The GM Trainee will act as a manager to obtain knowledge of Cardinal’s Last Mile business process. The main purpose of the GM Trainee is to learn, plan and direct operations and improve productivity and efficiency. The GM Trainee will get hands-on experience in leadership and direction to the office staff and independent contractors.
Essential Functions:
• Learn all areas within Cardinal Last Mile to become efficient and effective
• Learn and manage dispatch and routing and ensure efficiency of both.
• Assist with daily functions in accounts as needed
• Recruits, screen and hire new owner operators/independent contractors for deliveries.
• Communicates with ICs and customers concerning deliveries and delivery times.
• Enforces compliance and administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations.
• Works with claims team on administration and management of claims.
• Inventory control and maintenance of warehouse items.
• Manage facility and office staff, scheduling, payroll, and other administrative tasks.
• First point of contact for customer and interact on a consistently professional, well-organized manner.
• Other duties as assigned.

Other Requirements:
• BA in Business/Supply Chain Management preferred and/or relevant work experienced.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to shift priorities.
• Must be able to interact effectively within all levels of the Customer’s and Cardinal’s organization.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
