Job Description

We are looking for a Genetics Coordinator (40 hours per week) in our Elmwood Park, NJ location or remotely.

Schedule: Monday-Friday,9:00am-5:30pm

Position Summary:

The Genetics Coordinator provides services pertaining to laboratory operations specifically in Oncology. The genetics coordinator facilitates case management, provides requisition data entry review services, gathers additional needed clinical information from clients, and responds to client inquiries. Will report to the Sr. Product Director in Oncology. This position is an excellent opportunity for someone pursuing an education in Genetic Counseling.

Essential Job Functions:

• Ascertains, documents, and verifies clinical information needed for reporting and billing functions
• Assists with case management by requesting patient information relevant for genetic counseling, test interpretation, and other internal teams.
• Provides appropriate follow up when additional information is required for case completion.
• Assists Oncology Genetics Services staff in clerical tasks and monitoring cases including specific client queries for information and test or appointment status updates.
• Participates in department data tracking.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
• Must have proficient skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Excellent typing skills (accuracy and speed)
• Computer literacy at the college level working with MS Office applications or similar

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in genetics or a related health science field from an accredited university, preferred.
• Prior experience in a clinical laboratory, hospital or doctor's office preferred.
• Career focus on Genetic Counseling, preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
