Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Advisor
Job Description
What You Can Expect
As a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Advisor, you will be responsible for leading Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analysis, reporting, and application maintenance for ENGIE North America's grid-scale renewables development platform. You will support and lead a variety of activities related to wind, solar, and battery storage project development across North America.
Project Management
- Develop standards and best practices for existing, evolving, and new GIS workflows
- Write and maintain documentation and templates to ensure consistent work products across the team
- Coordinate with other senior leaders on the team to oversee a shared inbox and aid in task delegation and workload balancing
- Assist in training and advising more junior members of the GIS team
- Propose innovative solutions to improve existing GIS platform, including new application development, refined work products, and tailored user experience
- Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to build and test proofs of concept for new GIS solutions and work products
- Stay up to date on the latest market offerings and collaborate with the GIS Manager and other members of the team to roll them out on ENGIE's platform
Cartography and Spatial Analyses
- Provide mapping support for all wind, solar, and battery storage project development, delivery/construction, and operational activities
- Run buildable area models for wind, solar, and battery storage preliminary site development and associated compliance checks at later stages
- Coordinate with a diversity of internal stakeholders to address project concerns and identify next steps to maintain project schedules
- Clearly document and communicate assumptions with both internal and external stakeholders
- Provide insight, feedback, reporting, analysis, and decision-support skills to the project team using geospatial tools
Database Management
- Coordinate with the GIS Development Advisor to build, test, and implement a custom data model for the existing SQL server database
- Maintain and reinforce with other team members the highest data quality, integrity, and metadata standards
- Develop schemas and example geodatabases for inclusion in requests for proposals (RFPs) and contracts with external consultants
- Coordinate with internal project support and external consultants, as appropriate, to upload highest data quality standards and requirements, per contracts
- Aid in developing best practices for archived data
What You'll Bring
- A minimum of 7 years applied experience
- Bachelor's degree in which you completed courses in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Engineering, or equivalent
- Specialized knowledge and applied experience in GIS analysis and database management, specifically utilizing Esri Enterprise Portal and/or ArcGIS Online, as well as strong interpersonal skills
- Experience using Esri ArcGIS Pro software packages for analysis, geoprocessing, and static map production
- Experience publishing, overwriting, and managing services for use in Esri web mapping applications
- Experience converting CAD data into file and/or enterprise geodatabase formats
- Ability and interest in serving as a senior leader on the team, advising other team members and proposing workflow improvements
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-based environment
- Superior verbal and written communication skills and excellent attention to detail
- Ability to shift focus quickly and efficiently between varying priorities
- Excellent map and data interpretation skills
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and effectively manage projects
- Interest and willingness to assist with non-GIS related activities
Additional Details
- This role is eligible for our hybrid work policy

Compensation
Salary Range: $96,100 - $147,660 USD annually
This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
Actual offered salary may depend on geography, experience, industry knowledge, education, internal pay alignment, or other bona fide factors.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for a competitive bonus / incentive plan.
