Ardent is seeking a Geospatial Director to join our team.
This is a remote/hybrid position in the Washington, D.C. Metro area. The Geospatial Director will meet with customers at government facilities as needed but will otherwise work from home.
Position Description:
The Geospatial Director will engage in billable, client delivery of GIS programs, participate in growth and proposal activities as a geospatial SME, and provide strategic thought leadership to Ardent’s portfolio of GIS projects. This position will require the candidate to apply their practical program management and deep geospatial knowledge to support client delivery. The ability to effectively communicate technical geospatial concepts to a diverse group of internal and external stakeholders, including Ardent project teams, clients, and Senior Leadership, will be key to their success. This position will also work closely with our CTO and Growth team to engineer and document best-in-class technical approaches and solutions in support of Ardent’s RFP responses. The successful candidate will also be responsible for evaluating performance results and recommending major changes affecting short-term project growth and success and will function as a technical expert across multiple project assignments and supervise others. The Geospatial Director will work with client decision makers on particular systems designs within the confines of client-mandated policies and governance.
Program Management Responsibilities:
- Supervise, organize, and manage contract operation support functions, involving multiple complex and inter-related project tasks.Â
- Manages teams of contract support personnel at multiple locations.Â
- Maintains and manages the client relationship at senior levels of the client organization.Â
- Meets with customer and contractor personnel to formulate and review task plans and deliverable items.Â
- Ensures conformance with program task schedules, deliverables, and costs.Â
- Establishes and maintains technical and financial reports to show progress of projects to management and customers, organizes and delegates responsibilities to subordinates and oversees the successful completion of all assigned tasks. Â
Corporate GIS Responsibilities:Â
- Supports corporate teams implementing enterprise GIS
- Coordinates with organizational IT service providers to resolve issues and dependencies affecting GIS deployments
- Champions ArcGIS commercial software throughout the organization
- Works with our Growth Department and CTO Department to pre-sale engineer, lead and participate in geospatial technical solutioning sessions, and write proposals.
Requirements:
- Must have Bachelors Degree + 12 OR Masters Degree + 10 years of experience managing IT teams, with experience within Scrum/Agile environment and geospatial solutions supporting the Federal Government.
- An understanding of best practices with respect to IT software development (SDLC), and systems implementation (Agile);
- Experience managing large teams
- Experience managing Federal Government DevOps/DevSecOps contracts;
- Proactive problem solving, and the ability to work autonomously;
- Superb Verbal and Written Communications Skills and client facing experience;
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment;
- Experience in managing a diverse group of functional activities, subordinate groups of technical and administrative personnel;
- General finance, project control and project management analysis, budgeting, general accounting, cost accounting, accounts receivable, operations administration and strategic planning;
- Must possess and apply expertise of multiple complex work assignments which are broad in nature, requiring originality and innovation in determining how to accomplish tasks.Â
- Ability to apply a comprehensive knowledge across key tasks and high impact assignments.Â
- Must be able to plan and lead major technology assignments.Â
Preferred:
- PMP Certification
- Active SECRET OR TOP SECRET security clearance
- Support to DHS geospatial programs
