WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time entry level Geotechnical Engineer for our St. Louis, Missouri office. The successful candidate will be involved in infrastructure projects in the Central region as well as projects across US. The position requires an effective team player who can work cooperatively to provide engineering services to its clients on design and construction projects.
Your Impact
- Work on some of the most challenging geotechnical and underground projects in the Midwest and throughout the Country.
- Learn basic principles of Civil and Geotechnical Engineering.
- Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
- Support preparation of final design plans, specification preparation, and cost estimates.
- Analyze subsurface data results, prepare geotechnical memorandums, and perform engineering calculations under direct supervision of a senior engineer.
- Complete training on assigned tasks.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Geotechnical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 1 to 3 years of relevant post education experience.
- Demonstrated interest in Geotechnical Engineering, Underground Construction or related fields and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP's work and projects.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
- General understanding of AutoCAD design software and an ability to further learn and be proficient in its use.
- Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
- Flexible to perform field inspection duties, if the opportunity presents itself.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Authorization to work in the United States.
- Experience using AutoCAD, Microstation, SLOPE/W, gINT, or ArcGIS software.
- Prior internship and leadership involvement.
