Job Description
AECOMis seeking a highly motivated geotechnical engineer to support mine tailings, geotechnical, and heavy civil infrastructure projects as part of the Mining group in Phoenix, AZ.
Job Summary/ Responsibilities:
- Performs specific portions of broader projects under the supervision of an experienced engineer.
- Planning, implementing, and overseeing geotechnical exploration programs (30% travel/field time)
- Developing geotechnical laboratory testing assignments
- Performing geotechnical evaluations including material characterization, liquefaction, seepage, slope stability, and settlement analyses
- Preparing calculation packages
- Assisting with the development of geotechnical reports, drawings and specifications
- Preparing and presenting technical presentations of evaluation results to internal team
- Review of geotechnical instrumentation and preparation of instrumentation monitoring reports
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS + 2 yrs of relevant experience
- EIT Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months
- MA/MS Civil Engineering with Geotechnical Emphasis
- 4+ years of relevant experience
- Basic Knowledge of industry software such as GeoStudio, Utexas, Grapher and AutoCAD Civil3D
- Field/Construction experience; tailings or dams experience a plus
- Familiarity with design reports, drawings and specifications
- Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrate proactive problem-solving skills
- Ability to maintain organization in a changing environment
- Exhibits initiative, responsibility and flexibility
- Resourceful, highly organized, and detail oriented
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
- Effective time-management and interpersonal Skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Relocation is not available for this position.
- Sponsorship is available for this role.
- Occasional site travel may be required.
