To date, we have helped to free or exonerate more than 200 people who, collectively, spent more than 3,600 years behind bars. ABOUT THE POSITION

Members of the Development department are constantly engaged in efforts to ensure sustaining support from existing contributors, while also working to implement programs that grow our base of donors.

At this time, we are looking to add two (2) qualified Gift Processing Associates to the Development department to support this important work. 

The Gift Processing Associate is responsible for the recording and acknowledgement of the Innocence Project’s constituents’ data and donations using Salesforce. This position works closely with the Development and Finance teams. Primarily, the Gift Processing Associate ensures efficiency and timeliness in processing donor information and donations using best practices to maintain optimal data integrity. This position plays a key role in maintaining Salesforce integrity and in maintaining donor communication and satisfaction through timely donor acknowledgement. The Gift Processing Associate will also field telephone calls and emails from constituents and staff, and make return calls or emails regarding gift matters.

This full-time position reports to the Director of Development Operations and Data Systems. This is a full-time position that requires no travel.

We are interested in every qualified candidate who is eligible to work in the United States. However, we are not able to sponsor visas.

The duties of this position require approximately 40 hours of work per week to be performed virtually/in-office. While the Innocence Project has supported remote work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, we are currently committed to a hybrid workplace with mandatory three days per week in-office. The number of required in-office days is subject to change. 

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

The ideal candidate is extremely organized and detail oriented. They will be capable of adhering strictly to the gift entry processes, in addition to being prepared to improve upon them. They must be an excellent communicator as a key liaison between the Finance and Development depts. They must be data driven and be deeply committed to maintaining data integrity.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

GIFT PROCESSING

  • Process all check, stock, and credit card gifts to the Innocence Project
  • Determine appropriate gift designations by reviewing accompanying documentation prior to entry, and alert appropriate staff to special gift situations.
  • Track donor activities and correspondence in Salesforce
  • Maintain filing systems offline and in Salesforce
  • Create and maintain gift backup for annual audit
  • Entering pledges and pending gifts as directed by gift officers
  • Assist donors in updating payment information and recurring donations 
  • Confirm and administer matching gifts

DONOR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

  • Ensure timely and accurate mailing of acknowledgement letters on a weekly basis
  • Coordination of special communications when acknowledging all gifts
  • Assist with annual tax letter mailing preparation
  • Fields calls & emails from constituents and responses regarding gift matters

GENERAL SUPPORT OF DEVELOPMENT OPERATIONS TEAM

  • Provide administrative support as needed to the development operations team, to include Salesforce support

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma, GED plus 2-3 years related work experience, or equivalent work experience
  • Bachelor's preferred
  • Prior work at a non-profit required
  • Prior experience with gift/data entry preferred
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
