Job Description:
Come and help us build the next generation Geospatial platform! The Professional, Geospatial Operations (GIS Analyst) is a mid-level technical position. The fundamental reason this job family exists is to assist with the development and maintenance of geographic information systems (GIS) datasets and coordinate special projects assigned by the GIS Leader. Most duties assigned are project-specific GIS support functions, customization, and automation of repetitive tasks. Analysts may also coordinate updates and changes to the database, applying quality control procedures on the data to ensure its accuracy.
Job Responsibilities:
- Support the maintenance and development of various GIS datasets. This includes using GIS specific software to create and edit geospatial data, develop project-specific databases, obtain geospatial data from other sources, perform spatial analysis, and prepare map figures.
- Review data and perform quality assurance checks for adherence to quality specifications as required by client.
- Identify and analyze trends in errors, analyze systemic errors and propose corrective measures to resolve them. Identify and performs routine automation improvements.
- Assist Senior Associates and offshore teams with QA/QC issues and document geospatial workflows.
Job Qualifications:
- 3+ years of GIS-related experience.
- Must be proficient in a number of computer applications but must specifically possess GIS software skills; proficiency using ESRI products and MS Office is required.
- Must have experience creating and editing geospatial datasets and be proficient in cartographic and data visualization techniques.
- Experience providing good customer service, is goal oriented, self-motivated, and has excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Must possess a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Intermediate database skills.
- Some experience or knowledge working in Cloud Computing Environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Geography or a related field with specialization in GIS, and/or GIS Certification, is preferred. Other combinations of experience and education may be substituted.
- Experience with Tax, Flood, Fire, or Parcel data.
- A working understanding of scripting languages (e.g., Python)
