Team: Analyst
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a GIS Specialist in the United States.
In this role, you will apply your geospatial expertise to support high-impact environmental and carbon projects across diverse international landscapes. You will transform complex spatial datasets into audit-ready deliverables, maps, and workflows that meet rigorous standards. Working closely with cross-functional teams, including restoration ecologists, carbon scientists, and project managers, you will help ensure that geospatial outputs are accurate, reproducible, and actionable. You will leverage satellite imagery, drone data, and remote sensing technologies to assess land suitability, monitor project progress, and provide decision-ready insights. This position offers the opportunity to shape global carbon initiatives, support verified restoration projects, and contribute directly to climate-positive outcomes.
Accountabilities:
Develop and maintain high-quality, audit-ready geospatial datasets and documentation to support carbon project validation and verificationProduce print-ready cartographic outputs and map products for reports, monitoring plans, and stakeholder communicationsConduct land suitability analyses using remote sensing, including drone and LiDAR data integrationDesign, document, and automate spatial analysis workflows in Python, R, or Google Earth Engine for forest monitoring and project performance trackingOrganize, analyze, and visualize geospatial data using ArcGIS Pro, applying advanced symbology and layout toolsCollaborate with internal teams to ensure geospatial deliverables meet methodology standards (e.g., VM0033, VM0047)Partner with external stakeholders to support mapping of projects and provide drone mapping guidance as neededMaintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for GIS workflows to ensure consistency, reproducibility, and efficiencySupport field teams with geospatial data requirements and participate in occasional site visitsRequirements
3+ years of experience using Esri or QGIS software with a focus on cartographic design and geospatial data managementStrong proficiency in Python or R for automation, data processing, and spatial analysisExperience with Google Earth Engine for large-scale remote sensing analysisKnowledge of voluntary carbon market (VCM) standards and at least one methodology, e.g., VM0033, VM0047, or equivalent AFOLUFamiliarity with PostgreSQL/PostGIS for geospatial databasesHands-on experience in forestry or ecological restoration projectsProficiency with AI-assisted coding or GIS workflow tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to improve efficiency and analytical scopeStrong communication skills, both written and verbal, in EnglishExperience preparing deliverables for audits or third-party verification is a plusBachelor’s degree or higher in GIS, Environmental Science, Forestry, or a related disciplineBenefits
