About the Role

We are seeking a highly technical and experienced GitHub Platform Owner to oversee the management, operation, and optimization of the GitHub platform within Opella Healthcare. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical knowledge of GitHub, coupled with strong leadership and project management skills, to ensure the platform meets the needs of developers, security teams, and the broader organization.

Main Responsibilities

As the GitHub Platform Owner at Opella Healthcare, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, scalability, and reliability of the GitHub platform. You will oversee the administration of repositories, manage user access and permissions, and implement best practices for version control, branching strategies, and repository management. Ensuring adherence to security and compliance standards, including GDPR and HIPAA, will be a key responsibility, along with implementing security features like code scanning, vulnerability alerts, and secret scanning.

You'll collaborate closely with security teams to enforce secure coding practices and manage access controls. Additionally, you will develop and implement automation scripts and tools to streamline workflows, such as CI/CD pipelines, and optimize the use of GitHub Actions for efficient and cost-effective automation. Continuous assessment and improvement of the platform's performance, as well as integration with other tools and systems, will be essential. Working closely with development, DevOps, and IT teams, you will ensure the GitHub platform effectively supports their workflows and provide training and support on best practices and new features.

As the primary liaison between GitHub and internal stakeholders, you will manage requests, feedback, and platform enhancements. Leading incident response efforts, troubleshooting and resolving technical issues, and providing expert-level support across the organization are also key aspects of the role. Additionally, you will manage the relationship with GitHub, including contract negotiations, license management, and feature requests, while monitoring license usage to ensure cost-effective utilization of services.

About You

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Certifications in GitHub Administration, DevOps, or relevant technologies are a plus.

Experience:

• 5+ years of experience managing GitHub or similar platforms in a large-scale, complex environment.
• Proven track record of implementing GitHub best practices and optimizing platform performance.
• Strong understanding of DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools.
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and their integration with GitHub.
• Familiarity with security and compliance requirements in software development environments.

Skills:

• Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams and with external vendors.
• Experience in project management, with the ability to lead platform-related projects from inception to completion.
