Who You Are

Driven by finding and forming relationships, you are a self-starter and a solutions oriented seller. You have worked in the technology sector for many years in a commissions based environment, helping to win projects in the custom application development space. Software products appeal to you because of your knowledge and interest in design and development. You have spent years working with Designers and Development teams. familiarizing yourself with the software products they bring to life. You also understand the interests of Technologists and can distill ideal environments for them to effect change. Recently, in a remote friendly world, you have persisted in expanding your network, uncovering opportunities to connect with decision makers and software companies in new settings. In the past you have also honed your skills by:

  • Nurturing client relationships in a Sales or Account Leadership capacity for over 7 years.
  • Developing accounts and new business leads in a Consulting, Professional Services or Digital Agency context for the last 3+ years.
  • Adhering to sales processes, developing and nurturing leads, from initial contact through delivery.
  • Meeting and exceeding sales targets consistently over time to meet the needs and capabilities of the business in new and existing markets.
  • Growing territories and establishing sales in new regions through management of an effective sales strategy, and outstanding customer relationships and retention.
  • Prioritizing activities and accounts in your active pipeline through the utilization of platforms and tools such as Hubspot/Salesforce as a CRM or Sales/Prospect systems.
  • Constantly expanding a playbook of techniques and proven strategies for driven expert led sales initiatives.
  • Negotiating value driven partnerships that marry the needs and expectations of our clients with positive outcomes for the business.
  • Exhibiting an unwavering ability to grow your reach through networking, conferences and producing thought leadership content.
  • Correlating your incentive based commissions to the company’s increased revenue through outsized tactical and strategic planning and ownership of the demand pipeline.
What You’ll Do At 8th Light

In growing and nurturing the pipeline of prospects and clients, you will support sales initiatives globally by concentrating on activities that help fill our funnel of leads. In this commissioned role, your primary focus and responsibilities will require you to:

  • Generate leads in a maintainable and quantifiable fashion, using analytical skills to expose trends and opportunities in various verticals and through strategic partnership opportunities. 
  • Create SOWs,  proposals and executive level presentations and sales decks.
  • Evangelize 8th Light’s earned reputation as a quality craft software consultancy and leader in bespoke custom software applications.
  • Demonstrate a proven determination to meet planned projections and targets.
  • Support engagement structuring, contract negotiation, and margin planning.
  • Develop and communicate technical vision, goals, and delivery roadmaps to clients.
  • Understand technical solutions enough to highlight the business value to technical and non-technical clientele and prospects in order to win deals.
  • Provide strategic leadership on new accounts in partnership with Client Service and Delivery leads.
  • Update and inform the company regularly on new sales initiatives and encourage active participation and thought leadership.
  • Plan and lead proposals, demos, and other sales related discussions with other Subject Matter Experts in the process.
  • Support demand generation strategy, including planning and attending related events.
  • Develop and maintain business relationships with executive level decision makers.

Nice to Have

In addition to the experience listed above, we would particularly like to encourage applicants with experience in the following areas:

  • Entrepreneurial experience or ability to grow and support a new business/ strategic work stream autonomously, with targets and a growth plan
  • Proficient and comfort with customer software and digital products gained from experience inside a SaaS organization or other Software Development / Design Services firm
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Previous managerial experience of coaching and developing team members

A Note on Compensation:

8th Light has recently adopted a compensation strategy that allows us to be competitive in each market for which we hire. Thereby, salary ranges for each position are not only determined based on experience and knowledge base, but also regional labor markets.

The US base pay range for the role is: ~$70,000 to $90,000 + commission (Sales employees are not eligible for spot bonus programs)
